EVERGREEN FAITH

How does Jesus want His people to respond to the culture in which they live? In Evergreen Faith,  J.F. Wright surveys the letters in Revelation, using historical context and literary analysis to connect first-century church experiences with our own. Jesus’ consolation and correction for those first-century churches show that it is possible to have a thriving faith in the middle of political intrigue, social uprisings, natural disasters, and anything else life may throw at us. Those seven letters gave hope to the early Church.

They give hope to us today.

Biblical Critical Theory
Christopher Watkin

In Biblical Critical Theory, Watkin uses the grand narrative of Scripture to "analyze and critique the culture." He doesn't explain theology, nor does he define or defend cultural nuances. Instead, he leads his readers through broad theological concepts, using them as a framework for looking at our culture.

From the blurb: "It is not enough for Christians to explain the Bible to the culture or cultures in which we live. We must also explain the culture in which we live within the framework and categories of the Bible, revealing how the whole of the Bible sheds light on the whole of life.

If Christians want to speak with a fresh, engaging, and dynamic voice in the marketplace of ideas today, we need to mine the unique treasures of the distinctive biblical storyline."
